We celebrate the upcoming holiday season by focusing on Christmas-themed collections in our main mezzanine display case. Curated by Fisher Librarian P.J. Carefoote, the case features one of the Fisher's most beautiful illuminated manuscripts, the Viefuille Book of Hours from the mid-15^th century, which is rarely displayed, along with the first edition (in two separate issues) of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. The case is divided thematically to touch on the different aspects of the season, and includes items relating to shopping and marketing - the first Christmas catalogue issued by Eaton’s in 1897 is shown, along with carols published by rival Simpsons - along with drawers displaying Christmas cards, carols and a drawer on Christmas in Canada.

The items will be on display until the end of the day on December 19, when the Fisher closes for the holiday season.
